This week we learned about the Nervous System. I was thinking about how very young children are being diagnosed with ADD or ADHD. Parents may first hear concerns about their child's behavior from a school counselor or nurse as a result of a teacher referral. Often parents are urged to have their child seen by their family doctor. Medical practitioners may choose to medicate the child. Medications for ADD or ADHD present problems related to side effects and adverse reactions that impact the child's lifestyle or personality. What are some of the side effects of medications prescribed for ADHD? Some doctors prefer to treat children through diet and exercise protocols. What are some of the non-drug alternative diets/exercise or other methods of treating ADD or ADHD?
