Problem: Data is showing that the range of many organisms is shifting due to warmer temperatures; species tend to be moving northward because it is cooler in northern climates (for the northern hemisphere, at least). Scientists have data that many species of insects, birds, and mammals are shifting their traditional habitat range pretty quickly, and the likely cause of this shift is warmer temperatures in the last decade in most of the regions on the planet.
For this post, briefly research an organism and answer the questions below. For your organism, try to choose one that your fellow classmates have not discussed and then in your own words, explain the information available on whether that organisms' habitat is already shifting. For example, you can search for 'wolves climate change shift' and see what evidence comes up, or insert your chosen organism in place of wolves, or chose another group of search terms.
Remember, we are talking about a species. Individuals will need to make that move, but the habitat shift is based on where we will general find that species, i.e. where the habitat best fits that species' needs and where that species can thrive.
Also, provide your thoughts on this question: How do you think organisms that can't move, such as trees and plants, will be able to shift habitat range if needed?
