Assignment task:
The contact hypothesis explains that interpersonal contact is the best way to reduce prejudice between different groups of people. To ensure effectiveness participants need to be equally involved while working towards a common goal and objective. They need to cooperate and gain support and assistance from legal authorities. A modern conflict we are currently facing involves the concept of immigration and immigration policies. Such as the security within the border, undocumented immigrants, and asylum seekers. Government agencies, communities and advocacy groups are all involved in this dispute. If immigrants and residents where able to come together to work towards something that will positively impact our community, I believe it can lead to reduce prejudice, lead to empathy and understanding. One of the things needed in our community can be the use of a community center. A center that assists and educates on the topics of employment, childcare, mental health, and housing which are topics we all can relate to. If immigrants and residents where to work together in such a project, with equal involvement, on something that both groups feel included and that all can benefit from it can lead to stereotypes and misconceptions to be broken down. Leading to unity, diversity, and the appreciation of residents for the contribution of all members reducing negative perceptions and creating an environment of inclusivity and harmony. is this better?
