How to Read a Newspaper:
ASSIGNMENT- using the New York Times, Washington Post, OR Wall Street Journal, pick an issue related to the U.S. government and follow the news during the past week (this past week) with an eye on the coverage, sources, and language.
Write a two page summary of what you found in the newspapers, specifically were the articles written to persuade, inform, or both. Be specific in your summary about how the newspaper covered the issue, did the coverage change, were sources open or anonymous, was it clear why, and how did the newspaper use language, etc.
Sources to use- EITHER New York Times, Washington Post, or Wall Street Journal (online sources) and just focus on one topic relating to the U.S. Government from the past week.
