Problem: As I stay indoors for the remainder of the prairie winter, I find myself often looking to TV shows to help pass the time. However, this year I found myself completely overwhelmed with the sheer number of streaming options at my fingertips. With shows like Tell me Lies, Bridgerton, The Pitt, Love Story, and Love is Blind all airing at the same time, I realized two things: I have questionable taste in television, and I was paralyzed by choice. What is a girl to do when she wants to watch everything but also keep up with the Winter Olympics? This very small, but very real problem of "too many streaming options" is something I think everyone can relate to, whether its deciding what to watch, which series to follow, or how to prioritize limited free time. It helps to know that I'm not alone with this problem, many consumers are experiencing "subscription fatigue", reporting that the number of streaming services available can be overwhelming (Commisso, 2023). To tackle this, I applied two divergent thinking tools: Brainstorming and SCAMPER. First, I used Brainstorming to generate as many ideas as possible without judging them. I thought of options like making a priority list of shows, watching highlights instead of full episodes (not a chance!), scheduling specific days for each show, asking friends for recommendations, or even choosing at random by coin flip. Brainstorming helped me freely explore different ways to solve the problem and capture ideas that I might otherwise dismiss. Need Assignment Help?
