Problem: There is a food shortage all over the country, including in low-income areas. It is scary to walk into a Walmart and see empty shelves. Dollar General has empty shelves. According to Fox, the food desert can be contributed to the riots during COVID and the race riots (2020). Additionally, food deserts can be blamed on increased gas and diesel prices. At one point, the gas in my area was almost $6 a gallon and I live in the country 90 minutes from Chicago. Other problems with food deserts have been blamed on businesses unable to reopen after the destruction of the riots and those who are paid to stay home instead of working. Obviously, the government is over-extending money allocations, so how can we help the communities as CHNs to lessen food needs? Explain with references.
