How to develop a component machining process plan

A manufacturing firm needs to manufacture cylindrical components on a CNC lathe. The differential between the incoming net shape diameter and the required final diameter on these parts is 12 mm and the length that has to be machined is 200 mm. The specified surface roughness is 3 microns. These components are made from a)1045 steel, b)Aluminum 6061, and c)Titanium alloy (Ti6Al4V). How will you develop a component machining process plan for each of these materials? How will you estimate the machining power requirements? How will you decide the number of passes that will produce the desired surface finish? How will you select feeds and cutting speed? What type of cutting tools will be required and elaborate on any specific tool geometry that will advantageous? Using information from cutting tool handbooks and the web, elaborate and discuss how you will arrive at a manufacturing process plan.
