Problem: Pick a scene from the play Antigone. You can find online or YouTube videos there are no link. For this post you will do some visual research, make designs and share your vision.
1. Find images or draw sketches for what the three of the main characters you think they would look like
2. Find images or draw three sketches that show what you would imagine the setting to be like
3. Find images or draw 1 potential tableau from the scene
Note: These images can be literal or can evoke a mood or communicate something about the character or space.
4. What happened in the original play?
5. What kind of stage what it takes place on and why? How is it different from the original Greek space or why is it the same? (Be sure to apply playing space concepts). How does this affect your design?
6. How do the costumes work with the character???Apply concepts from Intro to Theatre Lecture information on Character (objectives, obstacles, tactics, types, humours, etc). Are Costumes more a function of Thought/Spectacle or an expression or character? (Or both)?
7. How does the set express the Thought of the piece? How does it set the environment for the characters? Function as Spectacle?
