How the risks outlined in the lecture have affected you

Journal Problem

Resilience is showing adaptation in the face of adversity. This semester - this past year - we are living this definition! If you are in school, attending to course assignments, you are showing resilience. It can be helpful to reflect on our resilience as a way to validate our strength and flexibility.

For this journal entry I'd like for you to consider how you or your family have been resilient in the face of COVID19. Please discuss:

1) How the risks outlined in the lecture have affected you. The impact of COVID19 on some has been very different for different people. For example, I live alone so I have struggled with social isolation but my sister has two kids and is in school so she has really been challenged by the additional role of teacher and having less time to do her work. What risks have you faced?

2) How have these risks impacted your development, or the development of children in your life? How have these risks put pressure on family relationships? For example, I have a very shy niece who was just beginning to come out of her shell before COVID but the social isolation has changed her overall affect back to being very slow to warm up. Some family members have bonded together to support one another while others have grown really distant.

3) What have you done to adapt? Think about the core life skills described at the end of lecture for this week. What changes have you made to support your wellbeing or that of the children in your life? For example, I have a niece that recently asked for me to visit more so I've instituted weekly "play dates". Making art, hiking, or riding bikes with my nieces is good connection and self-care for all of us.

The response should include a reference list. Double-space, using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
