"American Sniper" and Tim O'Brien's "Speaking of Courage" and "On the Rainy River"
The assignment is to relate the first half of the film "American Sniper" to two specific stories from Tim O'Brien, "Speaking of Courage" and "On the Rainy River". One quote from one story and two quotes from the other. Paragraphs only have to be 150 words each, not including the quote.
For each response you will wrote three passages from the assigned reading, and then craft a paragraph for each of the three passages discussing the quote and a scene from the film. For each passage you could discuss
1) how the quote relates to/sheds light on a scene in the film;
2) or how a scene from the film contrasts with the quote; or
3) or how the quote and the scene both illustrate the theme of the course ("stranger in a strange land").
