In your role as a hospitality consultant, the general manager of The Georges Hotel, Madeleine, has reached out to you for help with a transformational change. After four years of dismal returns her owner has decided to flag the hotel under the Relais and Chateaux chain. It was not an easy decision. The Georges Hotel has a proud history of being an independent and has just undergone a $40 million renovation. However, the return on investment has not materialized and creditors want something done.
Madeleine is very concerned about how this change will impact her guests and her employees. Some of her employees have been with the hotel for over 20 years as have some of her guests!
After an initial fact-finding meeting with Madeleine, you are ready to present some of your initial thoughts on a change plan. You have decided to use the 5-P model as the change management framework for this project. Now, your task is to draft an initial plan to present to Madeleine next week. Your plan should include all 5 parts of the model and list any activities, actions, suggestions or considerations that you feel are important to the success of this project. Madeleine knows that this is just a draft, but she needs a plan with some specifics to take back to her owner.
