Assignment: Literary Analysis #4
Details: Write a literary analysis on one or more of the following plays/scripts:
• Susan Glaspell's "Trifles"
• Larry David's "The Pitch"
• Sophocles' "Oedipus the King"
• Henrik Ibsen's "A Doll House"
Word count: 750-1000.
Analyze the elements of drama discussed so far in class (i.e. symbolism, patterns of rhythm, poetic form, etc.) as they pertain to the plays of your choice. Be sure to focus on the following:
• How the author uses the element(s) of drama in the play?
• Whether or not the author uses each of these elements effectively (be sure to support your opinion with details from the plays)
• Where and how does the author's background influence the elements included in their plays?
Pay particular attention to connecting your ideas throughout the essay. Support your statements with evidence taken directly from your chosen play.
