According to McFadden and Gerl (1990) and O’Brien (2008) the aging population is faced with many challenges, such as “Creating a new self-image, adjusting to physical and mental changes of aging, adapting to a simpler lifestyle, and seeking quality of life” (as cited in Young and Koopsen, 2011, p. 313). These challenges are faced in different ways in every culture.
First, select a culture. Next, identify how the aging population is viewed within that culture and discuss whether there are cultural influences on spiritual care and health or healing interventions for this population.
