How structural changes creates functional change in skin

Assignment task: You will be writing specifically about how aging affects the structure and function of the skin. The central idea behind this is to relate the structural changes that occur in the skin as a person ages, to the resulting changes in function of the skin. Remember that is it the change in the structure that causes the change in function. Structure refers to the components of the skin (ex. melanocytes, adipose tissue), while function refers to the jobs of the skin (ex. protection from UV light, providing cushioning).

Q1. Explain in detail at least 3 structural changes that occur in the skin due to aging.

Q2. Address how each of those structural changes creates a functional change in the skin.

Q3. Use anatomical terminology in your answer. For example, instead of saying the "top layer of the skin", you would instead say "the epidermis".  Instead of saying the "cells that produce melanin", you would say "melanocytes".
