How social movements adjusted their tactics during covid-19

Problem: In my opinion, two of the most important ways social movements adjusted their tactics during the COVID-19 pandemic were the increased reliance on digital activism and the modification of protest strategies to account for public health concerns. These adjustments were especially important because they allowed movements to continue organizing and raising awareness despite physical restrictions, while also responding to heightened social inequalities during the pandemic. First, social movements shifted heavily toward digital activism. With lockdowns and social distancing measures in place, online platforms became essential for organizing protests, sharing information, and building solidarity. Movements like Black Lives Matter expanded their reach through social media, using hashtags and viral content to mobilize people globally. This reflects a broader trend in modern activism, where digital tools play a central role in sustaining movements and shaping public discourse (Morris,2021). The ability to engage large audiences online was critical during the pandemic, as it allowed movements to remain visible even when in-person gatherings were limited. Second, social movements adapted their in-person tactics to align with COVID-19 safety guidelines. Protestors wore masks, distributed hand sanitizer, and attempted to maintain social distancing when possible. According to research on social movements during COVID-19, activists had to balance the risks of public health. Need Assignment Help?
