How social media has reshaped social structure of generation

Problem: How do I respond to my peer if they say this Social media has reshaped the social structure of our generation, and it plays a large role in social inequality, due to society's need to partake in the competitive nature of social status, through social networking. Receiving praise towards one's achievements directly impacts one's achievement status. This leads to people often claiming a master status, which can sometimes become more recognized than the actual person themselves. This largely contributes to the role and social groups our society expects you to keep. The society our parents and grandparents experienced was more of a traditional society, where they socialized in person with deeper connections, focused on local ties within the community, family, and friends. In contrast, society today is more so a post-industrial society, with more of a global reach, communicating through devices, causing social ties to weaken, become more detached, and has led to a loss of community with more of a focus on one's individual self.
