Societies with the highest number of people with no religion are found in East Asia (China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam) and North-Western Europe (Scandinavia, Baltic states, Netherlands, Belgium etc). Societies with the lowest number of people without religion tend to be in South, Southeast and West Asia, and Africa. What might be the social factors that account for these differences in religiosity between societies?
