In going through the files on a process in which her employer finds himself in troubles, an engineer finds several instances of poor judgement and miscalculation by her predecessor who set up the process. Most of the present problems in the process are caused by the previous engineer' errors. The previous engineer left the company and is now working for another firm. The present engineer's assignment is to improve the process. How should the improvements be justified to her employer? What, if anything, should the engineer say or do about her predecessor's mistakes? Which canons or rules apply?
