Consider a business which manufactures breakfast cereals. One of its senior directors reads the reports about the importance and value of pollinators and suggests to the board of directors that it must urgently reassess its accounts to take into consideration the cost of the continued decline in the bee population in the next ten years. The director notes that they have done some initial calculations and factoring in this external cost reduces forecast profits by 10 per cent a year for the next five years. How should the business respond to this suggestion?
