Problem
Select at least two, interrelated themes or issues that we have discussed this semester and write a 7 to 10 pages essay discussing, in detail, how Seth Holmes's ethnography of migrant workers speaks to those themes/issues. For example, one might choose to write about modernization/globalization and its impact on labor immigration in general and Triqui migrants in particular. Alternatively, one might write about exchange, language, gender, magic, child-rearing, etc., generating an essay that weaves together material from our readings, Holmes's ethnography, and a set of original observations. In short, it is up to you to choose your topic. However, much of your grade will revolve around your ability to integrate a broad swath of our course materials (including Barrett's book) into your essay.
