Assignment task: Safety and health certifications provide many benefits to those who obtain them. The Board of Certified Safety Professionals states that safety certifications gives those who have them an advantage with hiring preferences and salary increases, personal satisfaction and increased self- esteem, and lastly having the mastered core knowledge while having a significant advantage over your fellow peers (Board of Certified Safety Professionals, 2020).
The certification that I believe would be the most beneficial in my future career endeavors would be the Certified Safety Practitioner (CSP) certification. The CSP certification is the most prestigious of all the safety certifications. Most employers would prefer to have potential employees have this certification or the ASP certification which is one step down. My current degree program helps shorten the pipeline towards achieving this certification by bypassing the ASP certification given that I meet certain requirements. Although I have not been able to obtain employment in the safety sector again. The biggest hurdle as of right now would be the required in depth safety experience that is required at 50 percent for four years which obviously would help by obtaining a safety job. Additionally, another hurdle would be passing the exam. I have heard that it is a difficult test so I must thoroughly prepare by utilizing practice tests.
