Assignment:
This job selects a good literature text for the 21st century, either fiction or non fiction, which will be an integral part of learning for a class. It then offers a focus from the curriculum documents which will focus on learning, e.g., social issues (poverty, gender), cultural diversity, environmental issues, global issues, peer relationships, historical, scientific, a specific literacy concept (narrative structure, character development).
It then includes a rationale for use of quality literature in teaching. From a W.O.R.L.D. perspective, it also discusses how quality children's literature, when used well, influences children's literacy development.
It then focuses on a particular grade or division for the focus. It also describes the various ways you might use this text to enhance the learning of content concepts and literacy skills.
