Brewer’s Fayre restaurants case study

You work in the Strategy Department for Whitbread plc with specific responsibility for the Brewer’s Fayre restaurants. The Board of Whitbread are asking you to write a report for them on what you think the future direction of Brewer’s Fayre will be.

You realise that the Government is currently looking at reducing levels of obesity in general as it is costing the National Health Service (NHS) more money than it can afford. This means that your menus may not be appropriate in future. The Government is also thinking of reducing the amount a person can drink and drive and this might affect the number of customers to your restaurants as most are not in residential areas.

Section 1:

• Analyse how these political factors will impact on Brewer’s Fayre in the future if no action is taken

• Analyse how these economic factors will impact on Brewer’s Fayre in the future if no action is taken

• Evaluate how these factors will influence what Brewer’s Fayre should do to make sure it is still a product consumers which to use.

Section 3:

• Discuss what actions Brewers’ Fayre should undertake to ensure it is still a product used by consumers, and hopefully expand its customer base
