Problem
Before responding to this discussion forum, please watch the following two videos introducing synthesis. The first video (2:30 minutes long) discusses synthesis as an overall concept. The second video (2:50 minutes) puts synthesis in the context of writing.

NOTE: In this video, they are using the APA citation style. We will be using MLA. However, the synthesis writing skills are the same regardless of the citation style used.
Task
After watching the videos above, consider your understanding of synthesis and how it appears in your experience. After watching the videos and reading the chapter, respond to the following:
1. From the videos, identify two things you have learned about synthesis.
2. The first video gives some examples of how people synthesize information daily. Aside from writing, what is a way that you apply synthesis in your life? In your example, please explain how the different pieces of information you synthesized informed your decision-making process.
3. How has exploring the ideas in the videos impacted your understanding of Essay 1? You may want to look at the guidelines again for the Essay to make explicit connections. (Yes, this is synthesis, too!)
