American Immigration Council mentions that if immigrants took away jobs from native born workers, then there would be a high unemployment rate, especially in parts of the country where there are large number of immigrants. Yet apparently there is little connection between recent immigration and unemployment rates at the regional, state, or county level (American Immigration Council). How much of the issue do you think lies with companies issuing H1-Bs, and how much of it do you think is just public perception?
