How much mass of water is needed

Problem

1. Because a hot water supply must also heat some pipe mass as it is turned on, the water does not come out hot right away. Assume 70oC liquid water at 100 kPa is cooled to 45oC as it heats 15 kg of copper pipe from 20 to 45oC. How much mass (kg) of water is needed?

2. A car with mass 1275 kg is driven at 60 km/h when the brakes are applied quickly to decrease its speed to 20 km/h. Assume that the brake pads have a 0.5-kg mass with a heat capacity of 1.1 kJ/kg K and that the brake disks/drums are 4.0 kg of steel. Further assume that both masses are heated uniformly. Find the temperature increase in the brake assembly.

The response should include a reference list. Double-space, using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
