How mindfulness activities help a child social development

Problem:

From readings we learned that guidance teaches children to identify and use appropriate strategies to deal with their behavior and feelings. It is a process by which children are able to learn appropriate problem solving skills. Behavior guidance helps children develop empathy, self-control, and self-esteem.

For this discussion,

Please view this 2017 New York State's Early Childhood Education and Training Program video titled Mindfulness Activities (3:42). (YouTube Video)

Read Gordon & Browne (11th edition) (2024): Chapter 7 Guiding Children's Behavior and Chapter 14 Psycho-Social Development

In your discussion post, reflect how you felt after watching the video:

If you are having "one of those miserable days," can activities in this video help you? Briefly state how.

Children have bad days too. How might 4-year old Roberto feel and act when he has a bad day? Rather than some programs that may stick Roberto in time-out, how might these mindfulness activities help Roberto? Need Assignment Help?

How can mindfulness activities help support a child's social and emotional development? Does the practice of time-out support children's social and emotional development? Please support your answers with references from the textbook or video. If you are in a classroom, or when you are in a classroom, do you think you could lead some of these mindfulness activities with your group? Would you consider using mindfulness activities in your classroom? Why or why not.
