You as the personal trainer should help clients define goals in more specific and measurable terms so that progress can be evaluated. Effective goals are commonly said to be SMART goals, which means they are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time bound.

For the case study, you have a new client that came to you with a goal of losing a few pounds and having more energy to play with their grandchildren throughout the day.
