How might these affect your final paper and how are you

We are all human beings; therefore, we all have biases. In order to avoid biases, we must be aware of our ways of thinking and not let this cloud our judgment.

Let me give you an example: I teach writing, and I grade writing. I am not a pro-death penalty advocate.

If I simply graded based on my opinion, my students would fail their essays simply because they do not agree with me.

I have to grade based on the argument presented, to include the thesis statement, supporting reasons, supporting evidence, addressing of counter-arguments, proper grammar, and proper formatting.

Based on these things, many students have written amazing papers supporting the death penalty!

With this said, it is important that you look at your own biases.

Name one or two of your own biases, in relation to your final persuasive paper.

How might these affect your final paper, and how are you going to ensure you do not let your biases prevent you from writing a well written argument?
