I also engage with commercial and entertainment media through online advertising, televised content, and user-generated videos. These channels collectively influence how I prioritize information, understand current events, and form perspectives on social and professional topics.
One example of media influencing a decision occurred when I used YouTube and product-review blogs to evaluate different laptop models before making a purchase. The combination of expert reviews, consumer feedback, and comparison videos directly shaped my final decision, illustrating how digital media ecosystems function as decision-support tools.
Regarding social media platforms, I use Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Reddit. When considering broader definitions, additional apps such as WhatsApp, Pinterest, Discord, and even Spotify (through its social sharing features) can also be classified as social media because they enable community engagement, content sharing, or user interaction. This highlights the distinction between types of social media-such as networking, microblogging, media-sharing, and discussion forums-and platforms, which are the specific applications that support those functions.
I use social media multiple times throughout the day for news consumption, staying connected to friends and colleagues, researching products and trends, and participating in professional communities. It also serves as a primary source of entertainment and a way to track industry topics. The frequency of my use reflects both convenience and the way social platforms have become integrated into communication, information gathering, and decision-making in modern life.
