How many subnet bits are required how many hostssubnet are

LAN Design Project I

Your small company has been assigned an IP address of 195.0.0.141. You are to design a LAN that will provide connectivity between:

• A five-workstation Token Ring network
• A second six-workstation Token Ring network
• 23 workstations plus a DNS server in an Ethernet subnet
• 8 workstations in a second Ethernet subnet

Your LAN is connected via a serial port to the outside world ("Cloud"). Assume that a proxy server (part of the Cloud) is providing N.A.T. to your LAN (not part of your design). Use the same first three of the dotted-decimal octets (195.0.0) in your IP design.

You must use ONLY the following existing equipment:

One 5-port ROUTER (2-Ethernet ports, 2-Token Ring port, 1 Serial port)
Three Ethernet Switches (1 each 12-port, 1 each 10-port, and 1 each 4-port switches. Each switch has an additional uplink port).
Two Token Rings ( 5-port MAU plus uplink, and a second 6-port MAU plus uplink)
One Hub (8-port plus an uplink port)
One Server (DNS).NOTE: DNS Server should be installed as close to the LAN backbone as possible.

Your LAN design must include a LAN layout diagram showing the connections to each PC, router, switch, hub, and server. Employ the standard network device symbols that we have used in class (CISSCO icons for Visio). The 23-PC subnet is to include the DNS server (place it correctly). You must develop the correct IP addressing and Subnet Masking for each host (including router ports, switches, server, PCs, etc.)

Also show the Subnet IP address, Subnet Mask, and Subnet Broadcast IP address for each subnet. Label your layout diagram with these IP addresses (each host, subnet address shown) and also put them together in one table (separate sheet). Neatness counts.

SHOW WORK. Explain fully how you decided upon your design (justify your choices). Submit work in printed (typed) format as a report. The layout diagram alone should use an entire sheet of paper. Staple sheets together - NO FOLDERS. Use this sheet as the front page.

What Class of IP Addressing is being used?

How many subnets are required in your design?

How many collision domains in your design?

How many broadcast domains in your design?

How many "subnet bits" are required?

How many hosts/subnet are useable?

What is the total number of HOST IP Addresses required?

What is the total number of SUBNET IP Addresses required?

What is the required SUBNET MASK (Show work)?
