A series of four football games is to be played. Each game is played to conclusion, so that there is always a winner. You have the opportunity to participate in a betting exchange. To do so, you submit a list forecasting the winners of each of the four games.
(a) How many different lists must you submit to be sure that at least one list correctly forecasts at least three out of four winners?
(b) In each game one team is a home team and the other an away team. Hence a forecast can simply indicate H or A, and a complete list might be, for example, (H, A, A, H). Show a set of lists that satisfies part (a).
