How law enforcement is usually depicted

Assignment Task: So let's have a discussion about how to best recruit into the profession. People with integrity, ethics, humility, and respect.  Why did you or do you think most people want to enter law enforcement?  The 'typical' person who would generally apply and seek a career in law enforcement will arguably always apply BUT what if the 'typical' stereotypes, attitudes, and morays that surround law enforcement inadvertently prevent people who would make great street cops or detectives from seeking a career in law enforcement because that can't see themselves in how law enforcement is usually depicted.

Just in Alabama this year, an entire police department was disbanded due to racist texts uncovered between officers.  In another department, 23 officers are currently being sued over conspiracy to target drivers during traffic stops.  If this weren't enough, the 'defund' movement has decimated police departments in the U.S. and hurt current efforts to recruit but "reimagining' police work can't be merely reduced to dispatching a licensed social worker to a domestic violence call.  How do you would you counsel your Chief to bring more qualified candidates on board?
