In honor of Social Work Month, I would like for you to develop a policy that would help improve the well-being of social work professionals. This policy can be created based on your own experience or information that you have researched. For instance, a few years ago, I completed a study related to child protective services (CPS) workers and unsafe home visit experiences. The participants in the study reported their unsafe experiences included unsanitary home conditions, clients experiencing mental health crises, fear of physical harm, and encountering domestic issues (Wise et al., 2023). Based on this information and as a former CPS worker, I would implement a policy that would include mental health services within every child welfare agency. Child welfare workers can't control what will happen when the arrive to a home to complete an assessment; however, agencies can implement mental health services for them to process the trauma that may be triggered by unsafe encounters.
