How important communication and leadership are

Problem: Response to these listed below

Hello! My name is Norah, and I am hoping to pursue a career in sonography. Outside of school, I love spending time with my family, my boyfriend, and my best friends. I work part-time and have taught dance for 2 years as well. In this course, I am excited to learn more about teamwork, communication, and leadership. Need Assignment Help?

One virtual group experience I've had in my life was during the COVID pandemic, when my classes were held online over Zoom calls. This added both benefits and challenges to my everyday life. A benefit to me was the flexibility and convenience of attending class from anywhere, whether that be my home or a local coffee shop. It also allowed students to stay connected during a difficult time. However, a challenge I had was that communication sometimes felt uncomfortable or awkward because most students in my class were hesitant to unmute their microphones and talk. Another issue we had was that technical issues could interrupt our discussions at any point.

In a few of my online classes, a leader would usually emerge naturally, often the teacher or a student who is comfortable speaking up and helping lead group discussions. Whenever someone would take initiative, the class felt more interactive and felt more organized as well. Without any leadership, group conversations often felt less productive and tended to be quieter. This experience in my life showed me how important communication and leadership can be in keeping virtual groups engaged successfully.

Ciao! My name is Christopher Hunter-Butler. I am a Lead Medical Laboratory Technician at Mission Cancer and Blood University of Iowa Healthcare. I have 13+ years of experience in the laboratory diagnostic field, working in both human and veterinary healthcare. Currently, I am in my second semester of the ASN Nursing program at MCHS. I love spending time with family and friends, learning new things and traveling to other countries/ experiencing new cultures. I hope to learn learn some positive skill sets in managing communication within healthcare, in addition to techniques for addressing conflict, group setting or one on one interaction, whether it be colleagues or clientele.

One task-focused group I am apart of is my career. As a Lead Medical Technician I work closely with many small groups on a daily basis. My immediate colleagues that work in both the draw station, collecting lab specimen for testing, and the laboratory, processing and running the tests ordered by providers, have a direct communication style that is generally effective and positive. We interact and collaborate to achieve a common goal in a positive and timely manner. When issues arise we utilize resources to the best of our ability to trouble shoot and resolve situations in a productive manner. Frequently the draw station/lab personnel must communicate with other departments such as receptionists, schedulers, physician guided teams, chemotherapy nurses and pharmacists. When communicating with these groups communication often gets miss interpreted, often leading to frustration or confusion, which ultimately effects the timeliness and overall care provided to the patient. A relationship-focused group I am apart of would be my family. I cohabitate with my wonderful and loving husband and our 4 cats. Both he and I come from rather large families. Communication between the two of us is easy and generally to the point with few miss understandings. When an issue does happen to arise, as is common in relationships, communicating our concerns and overall needs is easy making resolution quick. In contrast, when communicating with other family members, communication can be more difficult trying to schedule around the daily grind. Conversations are often short and may be misconstrued via text message as emotion gets lost in the translation. Family members may feel unheard or ignored if a response is not made in a timely manner. Thus interactions that are genuine and often face to face are easier to engage in as observed in both the immediate colleagues (task-focused) and husband (relationship-focused) circumstances. A distinction that is less effective when communicating long distance (family members) and cross departmental (coworkers). The difference between the communication stemming from the distinction of potential error in communication and translation of the message being misconstrued.

Hey everyone! My name is Aspen and I am currently in my 3rd semester of the BSN program here at Mercy College. I have worked in healthcare as a CNA/CMA for about 11-12 years. I am also a wife of 13 years and a mom to three boys (11,9,8) so balancing school, work, and my family can be challenging at times. My goal is to become a nurse practitioner someday. I hope this course helps me improve my communication and leadership skills while learning how specific groups work together in my future healthcare setting.

One virtual group experience I had was during my Comp 1 class at DMACC in Newton, Iowa. We communicated through discussion boards, team chats, and meeting online. One benefit of virtual groups was the flexibility because I live about 45 minutes away from DMACC, and the class started about 15 minutes after I dropped my kids off at school. Being able to attend class online made it much easier to balance school and my family life. One challenge though was not every would respond as quickly as I needed for specific assignments, which would make group homework very stressful for me, as I like to work ahead. In most of my online classes, someone would step up and organize meetings, reminding everyone about our deadlines, and help keep the group organized. After we found our "leader" for the group everything would run smoother. Thinking and analyzing this experience it shows me how important communication and leadership are when working in groups, especially in online group settings.
