ARTICLE REVIEW: Some research on the Revenue Cycle & HIM. Please use AHIMA, Google, Bing - whatever research medium you like to do some digging on how HIM impacts/is impacted by the Revenue Cycle. I'd like you to get a feel for how the two entities work together, how they coexist. Your article cannot be no older than 2011. So, you must select an article dated between 2011 - 2017.
ARTICLE REVIEW FORMAT
The goal of this exercise is to ensure the student understands and is able to apply the information gathered from the articles chosen. Reading the details is easy - analyzing, synthesizing and applying the information to the Health Information Management role is where the process becomes more intuitive.
The articles should be summarized in four parts:
ISSUE: please state the issue being described in the article.
METHODOLOGY: Identify the method suggested or used to address the issue described. How was the issue corrected? How should the problem be resolved? What is the industry best practice?
APPLICATION: how does the article apply to the Health Information Management professional? What should we be able to do with the information received? Is this an opportunity/awareness for HIM professionals? How does it impact our purpose?
SUMMARY: summarize the details, including any take-aways from the information you've read.
Formatting - the summary should be about 1 page in length. Please focus on not repeating the information within, but really identifying that you understood what you read.
