Although the Magna Carta was drawn up to protect the interest of Barons against a tyrannical King John, the ideas within it have been carried forward throughout centuries and have been applied universally. These two passages from the Magna Carta are highlighted because of their significance to our own Constitutional Principles.
"No freeman shall be taken, imprisoned, disseised, outlawed, banished, or in any way destroyed, nor will We proceed against or prosecute him, except by the lawful judgment of his peers or by the law of the land."
"To no one will We sell, to no one will We deny or delay, right or justice."
