Assessment overview

Throughout the first three weeks of this unit, you will explore a range of concepts aimed at preparing you for the next stage of your practicum journey. These concepts include: developing and maintaining professional relationships; creating effective learning environments; and introducing you to assessment, evaluating and reporting. Each Part you will be provided with one or two online activities to help you develop your knowledge and understanding of these concepts.

This assessment task requires you to create a personal journal in Microsoft Word, reflecting on your understanding of the three of the weekly online activities (specified below).

Assessment details

You are required to reflect on your learning from each of the three activities listed below:

Part One: Developing professional relationships... Which approach would you take?

Part Two: Design decisions

Part Three: Assessing, evaluating and reporting in practice

Each personal journal entry will be approximately 500 words each. You are also required to include an introduction and a conclusion of 250 words each within your submission to frame and summarise the three journal entries.

For each journal reflection should include the following:

Evidence of the completed activity. You may attach this as a document, image, screenshot etc. (This will not be included in the overall word count.)

The key concept(s) being explored throughout the activity.

Discussion of how the activity has influenced your understanding of the concept(s).

Evaluation of how you intend to transfer this knowledge into practice in your upcoming practicum.Introduction (250 words)(brief overview of the topics)

The function of the Introduction is to serve as a 'map' of the essay, outlining to your reader the main argument and points which you develop in your essay. Most introductions begin with an orientation in the form of a brief general statement that leads the reader into the topic showing how the specific topic relates to bigger issues or to the discipline field. This is followed by your thesis statement, which is your concise response to the essay question, then an outline of the argument presented in the essay.

There are some important things you need to do in the introduction:

You need to define what you are going to talk about. Otherwise your marker can't tell if you've talked about it meaningfully or not.

You need to show your marker what you are trying to do with your topic - your direction.

You need to show your marker what you are going to cover (and what you're not, if need be).

You need to give your marker background information necessary to their understanding.
