Problem: From what I could find, in Indiana the power is evenly shared (currently by republicans) by the governor and state legislature. While the governor plays a role in policymaking, the state legislature is in control of lawmaking. Although the governor has the power to veto and call the General Assembly, state legislature has the power to override the governor's veto if there is a majority vote. Increasing gubernatorial power could have advantages such as making decisions a lot quicker while also being unified. Disadvantages would be a leader's opinions and decision making overlooking the voices of the community. In my opinion, the best way to balance power between the legislative and executive levels would be for them to be able to work together and bounce ideas and decision making off each other. If the governor is able to veto but the legislation is able to override it, that almost makes the power of vetoing pointless. I think the 2 branches should be able to equally make decisions and come to an agreement with the general assembly being a type of mediator. Positive response. Need Assignment Help?
