How exactly you measure or count real-world observations

Discussion Post: Domestic Violence

Operationalization - One step beyond conceptualization. The process of specifying the exact operations involved in measuring a variable (i.e. your topic). In other words, this is taking your nominal definition and transferring it into a definition that is measurable in the real world (empirical). Operationalization tells us how you will count observations of your variable.

In at least three full and typed paragraphs, describe and operationalize your research topic. Use the following prompts and questions as a guide:

a) Revise your conceptualization of your topic. Make it as short and specific as possible, without sacrificing clarity.

b) Now, tell me why this topic is important. Why is it worthy of study? In other words, why should I or anyone else care?

c) In the last paragraph, describe how exactly you would measure or count real-world observations. Remember you want your operational definition to be exhaustive and exclusive.

The response must include a reference list. Using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, double-space, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
