Below are ten quotations from Ian Bassingthwaighte's novel Live from Cairo. Choose five of these quotes and then write a brief analysis/commentary for each one. Each analysis should be one-half to three-quarters of a page long and do the following: 1) identifies the narrative context or situation (what is happening and where, who is thinking, speaking, being spoken to, etc.) and 2) explains the quotation's meaning by relating it to some idea or point expressed in the scene it comes from and/or to other scenes or moments in the novel.

j. "Hana was giving her story in return for the one she'd tried to steal that day in the conference room. . . . . Hana wasn't proffering an apology so much as squaring a debt" (314).

k. "‘Any criticism launched at such machinery just disappears in the void.' Charlie spoke as if he was reporting the news and not decrying injustice"
