Bishara's article is primarily ethnographic--based on the anthropologist embedded in participant observation fieldwork. Peterson's methodology in this paper is primarily semiotic--an analysis of recurring symbolic constructions in the news stories. How effective do you think this method is for an analysis of framing? What kinds of questions do you think semiotic analysis would not be effective in answering?
