How each relationship is characterized by attachment type

Discussion: Developmental Psychology

The text briefly discussed how our attachment style can affect how we interact, establish, and maintain relationships to other people. Using the information on page 312 (How Do We Know. . . . that a person is securely or insecurely attached?) as well as the text on pages 311-314, describe and analyze three different relationships that you observe on a daily basis - a secure relationship, an avoidant/dismissive insecure attachment, and a preoccupied/ambivalent insecure attachment. Examples could include your own relationship, close friends, parents, siblings, coworker, family member, etc. Discuss how each relationship is characterized by the attachment type; be sure to note and document observable behaviors and examples that collaborate with your analysis. Out of your three analyses, which relationship do you find the most successful? Explain why!
