A. What have these sinners done to be in an even lower part of the 8th circle of Hell? How is what they have done worse than "misleading" (like the Evil Counselors), in being "mutilating"?
B. What is their punishment and how does it seem appropriate to the nature of their sin?
C. How does this canto classify these sinners into the kind of discord they have sewn?
D. How is it fitting that many of the images in this section are of war and of medicine? For example, why was Bertrand, a noble and a poet (troubadour) decapitated for his sin?
E. In what ways could these sins, translated to modern-day USA, be potentially considered "crimes" and those crimes be considered "terrorist"? What special twist does Dante (the poet) give to them in what else these sowers of discord have a need to relate to for eternity?
