1. DESCRIPTIVE WRITING
Your writing should be detailed enough so that you understand:
a. the meaning of the article as a whole -Â the main argument the author is making and why they are making itb. the meaning of each section of the article -Â the argument of each section and what each section does in the overall argument of the articleYour writing should therefore contain an outline of the main structure of the article, in your own words.If you have done this descriptive writing properly, then a friend from another degree could read your diary and understand the reading.
2. ANALYTICAL WRITING
a. When analysing and criticising the texts, focus on the main ideas of the author and use counterarguments from different texts provided in the module outline to analyse different positions and criticise to form your own argument.b. and also focus on a particular idea of the author that you find interesting. IF you have done this analytical writing properly, then a friend from another degree could read your diary and understand how this weeks reading compares and contrasts with other ideas covered in the module readings and lectures.
3. Critical thinking
a. Critical thinking flows from your analytical writing. Here you draw out the consequences of your analysis. How does the way you have combined the readings  through analysis - generate a different way of seeing the world? What does this way of seeing the world let you see that you would have otherwise missed? Why does it matter if you see this? Who does it matter to and why?
