ACTIVISM DISCUSSION
In this discussion you are expected to write an informative essay (250 word minimum). Use information from the lecture, assigned readings, and other websites to develop your reasoning. Spend some time researching a business or organization that is focused on food or retail activism (please do not select an organization used as an example in the lecture).* Include all of the following and separate each item by bullet points or numbers:
1) The name of the organization/business and the issue/cause they are trying to solve or improve.
2) How does the organization go about making a difference - what is their process?
3) Do you think the organization is making an impact on the food or retail industry? How so?
4) List your word count.
5) References for your information - you must have at least one reference for your information.
*If you are unsure how to start this assignment, consider selecting an issue/cause (ex. GMO) and search the internet for an organization related to that particular cause (ex. google "company that does not use GMO"). Once you find a company related to the cause/issue, visit the company website and learn more about their process.
Once you have posted your paragraph, you will be able to view the content posted by the other members of your group. You may also choose to complete the extra credit opportunity below.
Respond to another student's posting:
1) Spend some time researching additional information about the company the student identified in their post. Using a different source from the original post, provide confirmation for some of the information in the original post.
2) Identify some new information not contained in the original post.
3) Include references for your information - you must have at least one reference.
The response should include a reference list. Double-space, using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
