Problem
For each of the four articles, you will need to list the correct MLA 9th edition Works Cited entry including a live, working link to the article, (to be live, you will need to include any https:// or https:// at the beginning of the link), a 3-5 sentence annotation including the article's purpose, and a "CRAPP Test Evaluation" of the article:
1) Currency
a) When was the information originally published/posted? Has the information been revised or updated since its original posting? If so, when?
b) Is the information current enough to use in your Final Semester Research Paper? Explain why.
c) If there are links in the article, are they functional or do the links lead to an error?
2) Relevance
a) How does the information relate to your research question?
b) Who is the intended audience for the article/source? How do you know that what you have listed is the intended audience?
c) Is the information at an appropriate level? (ie: not too elementary or advanced for your needs)? Explain your rationale.
3) Authority
a) What are the author's credentials?
b) Is the author qualified to write about this topic? How do you know?
c) Is there contact information listed for the author? If so, what contact information is included?
4) Accuracy
a) Is the information in the article supported by evidence? If so, what type of evidence? Do not simply list the evidence.
b) Could you easily look up and verify the evidence the author cites? Explain your answer.
5) Purpose
a) What is the basic purpose of the article? (To inform? To teach? To sell? To entertain? To persuade?)
b) Does the author make the purpose clear or do you have to "dig" for it? Explain your answer.
c) Is the information fact, opinion, or propaganda? Explain your answer.
d) Are there any political, ideological, cultural, religious, or personal biases evident in the article? Explain your answer.
