Social Indicators of Children's Well-Being
Go to the Child Trends website: www.childtrends.org. Click on research and pick any of the articles. Pick one that is most interesting to you. Now apply the information in the article to one of the theories of developmental psychology from chapter 2. For example, there is an article about supporting fathers' relationships with their families. This could be applied to Erickson's Psychosocial Theory. Having two parents involved in the first two years of a child's life can help that child build greater trust and hope. Building trust and having hope happens in part through bonding with parents. It may be more difficult to bond in a single-parent household as it is more stressful for the parent.
