For this entire semester, we will be discussing child and family policy from a resilience framework. This means that we will look at how policy can enhance a family's resilience - providing ways for families to become stronger even in crisis.
To help you begin to think about this, I would like for you to read the article posted below and then answer the following questions. Keep in mind that I am a therapist. I work regularly with couples, families and children. I also supervise students who are training to become therapists. So this article is very clinical, but the application of the resilience framework is very relevant for policy. In fact, it is imperative that family specialists (like case workers, therapists, counselors & other agency workers) be a part of planning policy because we are the people who work daily with families.
