ARTICLE ANALYSIS GUIDELINES

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this assignment is to compare and contrast studies done by some researchers to what you have learned about the various islands of the Caribbean. You are expected to critique your assigned article as instructed below.

A. Article Selection:

1. Each student will be assigned an article from the list provided in Section D of this document (all articles are available online at FIU Library's website):

2. Articles will be assigned by the professor.

B. Analysis Content:

1. Answer the following questions (the numbers in parentheses represent the points that will be awarded for each section):

a. What were the main point(s) of the article? In other words, what was(were) the main argument(s) that the author(s) made?

b. Did the author(s) adequately support his/her(their) points of view? If you conclude that there was in fact adequate support, support your response by citing examples from the article.

If there was not sufficient support, what do you say is missing? When answering this question, be sure to keep in mind the date that the article was written since there may likely have been changes since the publication date.

c. How does the article compare to what you have learned in class? In other words, what are the similarities? The differences? Was there anything new in the article?

2. The analysis should be approximately 2-3 pages total.

C. Submission Guidelines:

1. Submit your paper as a Word doc attachment in the Dropbox in Blackboard.

D. Articles:

Dalgleish, J. (2008). Management in the Caribbean: Is it time for a change? Round Table, 97(396), 475-480.
